LG has today announced details on the G Pad III 10.1 FHD LTE, which is their newest addition to the G Pad III range. The 10.1 builds onto the already good reputation of the G Pad 8.0, which is the 8-inch sibling that has received glowing reviews. It seems that LG has stuck to the same principles of the 8.0, in providing a strong battery life, good display, and affordable price tag.
Aesthetics has always been a sore point for the majority of LG’s tablets, with a thick bezel, and somewhat bland design, which is still the same for the 10.1. It doesn’t scream premium, but then the price tag is reflective of the design choices here. But if you look beyond the surface you will find an octa-core 1.5GHz processor (brand unknown at this point), paired up with 2GB memory and 32GB internal storage. The internal storage is upgradable with a Micro SD card that supports up to 2TB. The display is the one stand out feature on this tablet, with LG opting to supply a Full HD IPS screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. With the 10.1 only having a 1,5GHz octa-core processor, we should be seeing a fairly strong battery life with the 6,000mAh pack that comes as a standard.
Other features include Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C and a folding “Kick Stand” which offers up to 70 degrees of adjustment. No exact release date has been provided, however there is mention in the press release of “early next year”, with a RRP of $429.00. See below for the full press release that has been translated into English:
LG will launch ‘G Pad Ⅲ 10.1 FHD LTE’ with LTE communication function and enhanced screen learning function.
This product added LTE communication function to enable Internet access anytime and anywhere while maintaining the advantages of ‘G Pad Ⅲ 8.0’ (8 inch) optimized for multimedia education such as internet lecture and reading.
The ‘G Pad III 10.1 FHD LTE’ is equipped with a 10.1-inch Full HD (1,920 × 1,200) IPS display that allows text and images to be viewed with a full HD screen that is twice as bright as HD. Video lectures, movies, etc. to enjoy full-screen 16:10 aspect ratio was adopted.
In addition, this product adopts folding ‘Kick Stand’ which can adjust up to 70 degrees for the first time among the ‘G Pad’ series, and it can conveniently hold 10.1 inches of big screen because it can be mounted without any accessories. The ‘Kick Stand’ stands for ‘Time Square’ UX, which can be used as a desk clock, tabletop calendar, or digital frame.
LG Electronics introduced ‘G Pad Ⅲ 10.1 FHD LTE’ in ‘Reader Mode’ which relieves eye fatigue when used for a long time. Reader mode is a function to reduce blue light so that you can easily browse the web when you are surfing the web or reading an e-book. It can be adjusted to 4 levels of black / white / low / normal / high according to the blocking rate. Pressing the ‘Q’ button on the side of the product makes it easy to enter the reader mode.
In addition, ‘monitor mode’ which shows the screen of the smartphone as it is on the tablet and ‘Microsoft Office Package’ for the tablet are provided as basic.
‘G Pad Ⅲ 10.1 FHD LTE’ is a self-supporting product, and it can subscribe to the LTE data plan of the mobile carrier that purchases the terminal at the general distribution store.
LG Electronics will launch ‘G Pad Ⅲ 10.1’ with stylus pen in addition to this product in early next year and expand ‘G Pad Ⅲ’ lineup. We will also actively respond to changes in the tablet market environment through collaboration with the educational contents industry.
“G Pad III 10.1 FHD LTE” is the tablet that provides optimal convenience by supporting the existing ‘G Pad Ⅲ 8.0’ with the strength of LTE communication, “said Lee Sang-gyu, head of mobile division of LG Electronics Korea Sales Division. “We will expand the use of G-Pad to further enhance its competitiveness in the tablet market.”
